Stressful experiences are more likely to result in trauma if the individual:

  1. -Felt powerless to prevent it.

  2. -Was unprepared for the stressful event(s).

  3. -Experienced it unexpectedly.

  4. -Experiences it repeatedly.

  5. -Felt that there was intentional cruelty.

  6. -Experiences the event(s) in childhood.


Trauma counseling can vary considerably from one person to another.  It is important for each client to process trauma at whatever rate he or she feels appropriate.  Once this has been established, some common therapeutic interventions can include:

  1. -Processing traumatic event

  2. -Discharging excess energy pent-up from event

  3. -Learning skills to regulate the flooding of difficult emotions

  4. -Rebuilding a sense of trust for situations or people

Seattle Trauma Treatment


Are you recovering from trauma, abuse, and/or neglect?  Are you interested in a therapeutic approach that can help you recover from trauma symptoms?


Trauma Treatment:

Trauma affects both the individual and the entire family.  Some common sources of include:

  1. -Death of a loved one

  2. -Serious illness of injury of self or loved one

  3. -Separation/divorce/significant break-up

  4. -Car accident

  5. -Natural disasters

  6. -Victim of crime

  7. -Physical/sexual/emotional abuse

  8. -Deeply humiliating or disappointing event


Symptoms of Trauma:

  1. -Insomnia or nightmares

  2. -Disbelief, shock, denial

  3. -Irritability, moodiness, shock

  4. -Easily startled

  5. -Racing heartbeat

  6. -Muscle Tension

  7. -Confusion

  8. -Fear and anxiety

  9. -Social withdrawal

  10. -Feeling “numb”

  11. -Self-blame, shame, guilt

  12. -Feeling hopeless and/or sad

  13. -Difficulty concentrating
