Seattle Social Anxiety Treatment

Do you find yourself excessively worried about whether people like or understand you?  For some, this symptom occurs with the presence of social anxiety.

Social Anxiety/Phobia Treatment:

Feeling some level of anxiety in social settings on occasion is common, such as interviews or public performance.  However, when this form of anxiety takes on more than an occasional presentation, this can make daily life challenging.  Individuals suffering from social anxiety disorder become so fearful of embarrassing themselves in social situations, that they often find them stressful or avoid them all together.  When attended, often sufferers of social anxiety will repeatedly replay details of the event.

Social anxiety/social phobia involves the overwhelming fear of being judged or scrutinized by others, and replaying these events is often an attempt to understand if he/she embarrassment him/herself.  Sufferers of social anxiety/social phobia often logically can understand that these fears are most likely exaggerated, however, these untrue feelings of inadequacy are generally difficult to overcome.  Social anxiety is actually quite common, although many sufferers feel that they are alone.  Also, the kinds of situations that may encourage social anxiety symptoms can vary greatly between individuals.  For example, some people only show their symptoms in specific social situations, such as parties or meeting strangers.  Others, may exhibit more generalized social anxiety which occurs in most situations.  The most common specific social anxiety is fear of performing or public speaking.
